Usher Raymond IV (born October 14, 1978), known mononymously as Usher, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. Born in Dallas, Texas, but raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he rose to fame in the late 1990s with the release of his second album My Way (1997). His first single "Nice & Slow" from the album became his first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, and the second single "You Make Me Wanna..." peaked at number two.
