Robyn Rihanna Fenty, known simply as Rihanna, is a singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman from Barbados. Born in Saint Michael and raised in Bridgetown, she first entered the music industry by recording demo tapes under the direction of record producer Evan Rogers in 2003. She ultimately signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for its then-president, hip hop producer and rapper Jay-Z. In 2005, Rihanna released her debut studio album, Music of the Sun, which peaked in the top ten of the US Billboard 200 and features the Billboard Hot 100 hit single "Pon de Replay". Her second studio album, A Girl like Me (2006), peaked within the top five in several countries, including the US, and produced her first number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 with "SOS".
