BIOGRAPHY
Iggy Azalea, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, is an Australian rapper, singer, and model born on June 7, 1990 in Sydney.
She grew up in the southern part of Australia, in Mullumbimby. At the age of 16, she dropped out of school to move to Miami and pursue her musical career. It is at this moment that she began rapping under the name Iggy Azalea, inspired by the name of the street where she lived in Australia.
In 2011, Iggy released her first single, "Pu$$y", which was moderately successful. Her first album, "The New Classic", was released in 2014 and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200. The album includes the singles "Fancy" and "Problem", both of which made it into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2015, Iggy was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category "Best New Artist", but lost to Sam Smith.
She has been criticized several times for cultural appropriation and the lack of diversity in her music videos and photos.
