Hans Zimmer is a German film score composer. Born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, he grew up in London, England. Zimmer began his career as a film score composer in 1980, and has composed the music for over 150 films.
Among the films for which Zimmer has composed the score are Jaws (1985), Rain Man (1988), The Lion King (1994), Gladiator (2000), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), The Incredibles (2004), The Little Prince (2015) and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016).
In 2003, Zimmer received an Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He has also been nominated for the Academy Award for the music of Gladiator (2000), The Lion King (1994) and The Incredibles (2004).
In 2007, Zimmer was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.
