Waida Melvish is an electroacoustic and avant-garde musician from Taipei, Taiwan, born in 1977, but raised in California, USA. She studied electroacoustic composition and musical computing at the University of Southern California and obtained her doctorate in musical composition at the University of Birmingham, UK. Her works have been performed worldwide, including in Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, China, and Japan. They have been featured in numerous prestigious festivals such as the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Festival, the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival, the Taipei International Contemporary Music Festival, the Vancouver International Electroacoustic Music Festival, the Victoria International Electroacoustic Music Festival, the Tokushima International Experimental Music Festival, and the ZKM International Electroacoustic Music Festival. Melvish is a member of the International Association of Music Electroacoustics and the British Association of Electroacoustic Music. She currently resides and works in Birmingham, UK.
