Mika Newton is a Ukrainian singer born on March 18, 1986, in Lviv, Ukraine. Newton began her career as a model before turning to music. In 2006, she participated in the first season of the Ukrainian reality show "Star Academy". She later signed with Universal Music and released her first single "Ya ne tak krasiva" in 2007. In 2010, Newton represented Ukraine at Eurovision with the song "Angel". She finished 4th, the best result for Ukraine to date. In 2012, Newton released her first studio album, "Gravity". The album was well received by critics and reached the top 5 of the Ukrainian charts. Newton is a versatile artist who masters several instruments, including the guitar, piano, and drums. Her musical influences include pop, rock, and Ukrainian folk music. Committed, Newton has worked with several charities, including the Ukrainian Fund for Sick Children and UNICEF. In 2016, she was named Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF Ukraine.
